ROMENA CASTLE IN PRATOVECCHIO
Now there are only ruins, but you can find interesting traces of the past like some pieces of etruscan vases from III century b.C.
It was one of the most famous castles of Casentino, and also Dante talked about it.

PORCIANO CASTLE
Porciano Castle has got a particular architettonic costruction: it's an example of tower-palace. The tower is 35 metres high and the walls are 16 mt.
After the restoration the tower was like a big empty shell, now it's on six floor and a ground floor.

COUNTS GUIDI'S CASTLE IN POPPI
This medioeval castle was built by Counts Guidi in 1274 and it was their house until 1440, when Republic of Florence annexed it to its domain.
There are many interesting things in the castle, like a Giovanni della Robbia terra cotta and a painting of Botticelli's school. The Library is very important for the hundreds of medioeval manuscripts.

You can visit the castle only by booking.
It's one of the most ancient castles of Casentino, owned by the Bishops of Arezzo who spent here their holidays.
There still remain thePrison, the Sentence Room and the Arms Room.

SUBBIANO CASTLE
The ancient building was changed during the centuries , expecially in 1700 when the castle became a house.
Despite this, it has a very interesting squared tower encircled by a large rectangular fortress, whose occidental size still has traces of the ancient building.

ST. NICCOLO' CASTLE
The castle, one of the most beautiful in Casentino, was owned by Counts Guidi untill 1349, when the inhabitans rebelled against the power of Count Galeotto, Count Guglielmo Novello's son, and fell under the Republic of Florence.
